The collection includes diplomas, licenses, and certificates, 1879-1930, documenting the education and professional appointments of members of the Davis, Wilson and McKnight families of Allegheny and Sewickley, Pennsylvania, in particular, Rachel Lowrie McKnight Simmons. In addition to diplomas of Robert Davis Wilson from Washington and Jefferson College and Eliza Cochran Wilson McKnight from the Pennsylvania Female College, the collection includes Rachel Simmons' diplomas from the Baldwin School, Smith College and Columbia University, as well as certificates and licenses from her nurses' training program. The collection also includes Robert Hudman Davis' appointment as inspector of the State Penitentialry for the Western District of Pennsylvania and three membership ists of the Woman's Club of Sewickley Valley.
